Prof. Dr. Sabine C. Herpertz, M.D. is Full Professor of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy and Director of the Department of General Psychiatry at Heidelberg University, Germany. Her key aspects of research activities are personality disorders and early stress related mental disorders, focusing on impairments of emotion regulation and social cognition as well as reactive aggression using fMRI and psychoendocrinology in addition to neuropsychology and experimental psychopathology. By identifying biobehavioral mechanisms underlying psychological dysfunctions her research group develops mechanism-based psychotherapeutic and biological treatment options which they test in clinical trials.
